Reading 1
EZ 28:1-10
The word of the LORD came to me: Son of man,
say to the prince of Tyre:
Thus says the Lord GOD:
Because you are haughty of heart,
you say, “A god am I!
I occupy a godly throne
in the heart of the sea!”—
And yet you are a man, and not a god,
however you may think yourself like a god.
Oh yes, you are wiser than Daniel,
there is no secret that is beyond you.
By your wisdom and your intelligence
you have made riches for yourself;
You have put gold and silver
into your treasuries.
By your great wisdom applied to your trading
you have heaped up your riches;
your heart has grown haughty from your riches–
therefore thus says the Lord GOD:
Because you have thought yourself
to have the mind of a god,
Therefore I will bring against you
foreigners, the most barbarous of nations.
They shall draw their swords
against your beauteous wisdom,
they shall run them through your splendid apparel.
They shall thrust you down to the pit, there to die
a bloodied corpse, in the heart of the sea.
Will you then say, “I am a god!”
when you face your murderers?
No, you are man, not a god,
handed over to those who will slay you.
You shall die the death of the uncircumcised
at the hands of foreigners,
for I have spoken, says the Lord GOD.

“I would have said, ‘I will make an end of them
and blot out their name from men’s memories,’
Had I not feared the insolence of their enemies,

For they are a people devoid of reason,
having no understanding.

MT 19:23-30
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Amen, I say to you, it will be hard for one who is rich
to enter the Kingdom of heaven.
Again I say to you,
it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle
than for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of God.”
When the disciples heard this, they were greatly astonished and said,
“Who then can be saved?”
Jesus looked at them and said,
“For men this is impossible,
but for God all things are possible.”
Then Peter said to him in reply,
“We have given up everything and followed you.
What will there be for us?”
Jesus said to them, “Amen, I say to you
that you who have followed me, in the new age,
when the Son of Man is seated on his throne of glory,
will yourselves sit on twelve thrones,
judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
And everyone who has given up houses or brothers or sisters
or father or mother or children or lands
for the sake of my name will receive a hundred times more,
and will inherit eternal life.
But many who are first will be last, and the last will be first.”

Ez 28, 1-10
En aquellos días, el Señor me habló y me dijo: "Hijo de hombre, dile al príncipe de Tiro: 'El Señor Dios dice esto:
Tu corazón se ha ensoberbecido y has dicho:
Soy Dios, estoy sentado en el trono de Dios,
en medio de los mares;
pero eres hombre y no Dios,
y te crees tan sabio como Dios;
pretendes ser más inteligente que Daniel
y conocer todos los secretos;
con tu sabiduría y habilidad te has hecho rico,
has amontonado oro y plata en tus tesoros;
con astucia de comerciante has aumentado tus riquezas
y te has ensoberbecido por tu fortuna' ".
Por eso dice el Señor:
"Porque te has creído tan sabio como Dios,
por eso mandaré contra ti
a los más feroces de los pueblos extranjeros,
que desenvainarán su espada contra tu esplendor y tu sabiduría
y acabarán con tu grandeza.
Ellos te matarán
y el mar será tu sepultura.
¿Ante la mano misma de tus verdugos
te atreverás a afirmar todavía que eres Dios,
cuando no eres más que un hombre?
Morirás como un pagano a manos de extranjeros,
porque así lo digo yo, el Señor Dios".

R. (39c) El Señor da la muerte y la vida.
El Señor pensó: "Voy a dispersarlos
y a borrar su memoria entre los hombres".
Pero no; que temo la presunción del enemigo
y la mala interpretación del adversario.

Pues diría al enemigo que su mano había vencido
y que no era el Señor el que lo había hecho,
porque son una nación que ha perdido el juicio.

¿Cómo puede uno persiguir a mil
y dos poner en fuga a diez mil?
¿No es porque su Dios los ha vendido,
porque el Señor los ha entregado?

El día de su destrucción se acerca,
y su suerte se apresura,
porque el Señor defenderá a su pueblo
y tendrá compasión de sus siervos.

Evangelio
Mt 19, 23-30
En aquel tiempo, Jesús dijo a sus discípulos: "Yo les aseguro que un rico difícilmente entrará en el Reino de los cielos. Se lo repito: es más fácil que un camello pase por el ojo de una aguja, que un rico entre en el Reino de los cielos".
Al oír esto, los discípulos se quedaron asombrados y exclamaron: "Entonces ¿quién podrá salvarse?" Pero Jesús, mirándolos fijamente, les respondió: "Para los hombres eso es imposible, mas para Dios todo es posible".
Entonces Pedro, tomando la palabra, le dijo a Jesús: "Señor, nosotros lo hemos dejado todo y te hemos seguido, ¿qué nos va a tocar?" Jesús les dijo: "Yo les aseguro que en la vida nueva, cuando el Hijo del hombre se siente en su trono de gloria, ustedes, los que me han seguido, se sentarán también en doce tronos, para juzgar a las doce tribus de Israel.
Y todo aquel que por mí haya dejado casa, o hermanos o hermanas, o padre o madre, o esposa o hijos, o propiedades, recibirá cien veces más y heredará la vida eterna. Y muchos primeros serán últimos y muchos últimos, primeros".
